3 Day Holiday Part 2

18 July, Day 2 of my trip. Today, from home, we took the train on a 1hr++ journey to meet up with my aunt's family. The station we alighted was Toowong station. And just outside was a shopping complex. I guess it was after school timing as the place was crowded with student. The uniforms that they wear here in Australia is so different from those that we wear back home i took a photo of one~
Their uniform consist of a light green shirt, green stripe coat, gray pants with black shoes and finally a hat. Interesting isn't it?
Anyway the 8 sitter arrived soon and we headed for~~ *drum roll*~~ THE LONE PINE KOALA SANCTUARY!!!! YEA!! haha so happy!! By nature i so love animals and i had this lucky chance to see animals that are only exclusively available in Australia! It maybe called the koala sanctuary but it actually homes all native wildlife ranging from the wallabies to the wombats, birds to lizards.
Baby if you come Australia i will try my best to bring you to Lone Pine to see this.

Welcome!

Show timing, activities and prices at the entrance.

One thing unfortunate is that the sanctuary closes at 5pm but we only arrived at 4.. -.- But nvm la, an hour in koala land is enough to make a happy liwei.
Alright, first stop, koalas. Some fast facts about koalas:
  • Koala means Doesn't Drink in Aboriginal tongue, basically because koalas don't drink.
  • Though often address as the Koala Bear, it should only be called as the Koala.
  • The koalas have 5 fingers on each limb and it has fingerprints.
  • Koalas sleep on trees and feed on a diet of encalypt leaves.

Kawaii~~~

For a price, you can hug a Koala and keep the photo as momento

Next was kangaroos. As kangaroos are more common unlike the precious koalas, they are kept in a fenced up grassland. We bought the feed for the kangaroos and yes, you've guessed it, we went kangaroo feeding! This whole piece of land is roughly 5-6 football fields? It's really big and kangaroos are not the only occupants around here. There were the ostrich looking Emus and ducks running around. Also there was kangaroo feces scattered all over the field there is no way you wouldn't miss them. Thankfully they don't smell.

We spend a good amount of time here feeding and watching these unique creatures. When moving on short distances, they would use all four legs to crawl and use it's tail to balance itself. Only when it is moving further distances will it hop. It was a rare opportunity to get such a close encounter with these animals that it has already made my trip worthwhile. However, with the little time on hand, we moved on to see the rest.

Wallaby

Kookaburra
Another Kookaburra

This white parrot is located near the exit/entrance of the sanctuary
It will greet people 'hello' and 'byebye'
The further part of the animals were mostly birds. One particular bird which I like was the Kookaburras. They are round, fat and simply adorable. While we were looking for the Dingos and Wombats, the staff told us that it was time to leave as it was 5pm already. It was a pity i miss on the wombats as i have previously seen wombat dolls sold and gift shops and they look so cute. Anyway, We headed for the exit after that.

That concludes the end of the 2nd day. We stayed over at my aunt's place for the night in their rented apartment .
